It was a beautiful sunny day as we drove south from Florence through chianti wine country, our destination the south-eastern corner of this magnificent area. In particular, we were headed to visit Gianluca and Keisha at their family home Agriturismo Incrociata where they grow the grapes for their wines and welcome guests from all over the world at their farmhouse apartments.

We met up with Gianluca so he could show us around his home, who runs the small estate with his family. We learned the vineyards all around grow the estate's wines but these are then sold to a local cooperative association who then produces the estate's two separate wines, which include two IGP red wines and a more recent white wine. The small estate is just two small to handle the wine production on its own, but the terroir being Chianti produces great grapes.

The couple live and welcome guests from all over the world, the part of hosting that is their favorite part of every day, particularly during the high season. The apartments are perfect for families with small children who can run and play around the garden, pool and recreational room where various games can be found.

The apartments, which offer a mix of rustic and modern, offer all of the main amenities anyone can expect, from fully-equipped kitchens to free Wi-Fi. Guests arrive and feel welcome with a bottle of wine in their new temporary homes, and the chance to relax on the estate however much they want to. The sun lounges around the pool and chairs under the covered veranda over the pool invite guests to sit and relax, maybe with a book in hand, on warm summer days.

The large gardens all around the farmhouse also offer the perfect location for hosting private events, such as a wedding ceremony and reception. Gianluca and Keisha were themselves married here, celebrating with family and friends from across the world.

The Miravalle Villa

If you're looking for the countryside experience in Chianti, with your own villa, then look no further! The Miravalle house is perfect for anyone that is looking for a medium sized villa in the Tuscan countryside to experience the quiet and relaxation of the countryside, particularly the experience of being in Chianti wine country. The villa has its own small pool and is divided on 3 levels, set about less than a kilometer further up the road than the rest of the estate. It offers a wonderful view on the vineyard covered hills above and below the house.

Make sure to ask for wine tasting of the estate's wines while you're there!
