Magnificent – the incredible story of the Beauty that revolutionized the world is the new video exhibition staged in the Sala d’Arme in Palazzo Vecchio, inaugurated last May and running until October 31st, 2015.
Magnificent is a fascinating story, visually and audibly, of the history of Florence through salient episodes and important personalities that marked the destiny of the city and not only. We went last week and truly enjoyed the show!
The narrative voice of Andrea Bocelli accompanies the spectacular projections made by Felice Limosani, who has reworked with digital techniques some famous frescoes, paintings and sculptures that allow the visitor to take a trip back in time through the main places of art and culture in the city.
The exhibition-show is projected every 30 minutes, with each show alternating between Italian and English, and you can enjoy it sitting comfortably in one of the seats placed in the room. The high walls of the Sala d’Arme act as virtual sheets on which beautiful projections designed by Limosani alternate and come to life (sometimes for real, thanks to sophisticated animations) which envelop the viewer, transporting him on a fascinating journey through time. Bocelli’s voice goes back centuries, tracing the history of the ancient Fiorenza through characters, episodes and important anecdotes, that have marked the path and the fate of the city. In Florence, many famous men have written their history with magnificence of which they seem to have known the secret of: Lorenzo de’ Medici, first of all, but then also Donatello, Botticelli, Michelangelo and other artists who brought the magnificence of Florence beyond, first to Rome as Michelangelo worked on the Sistine Chapel and then throughout Europe as other artists traveled. In fact, you cannot grab the magnificence, as it fluctuates generously from our hearts to other hearts. We actually must not keep it to ourselves but pass it on as a precious treasure to be shared by all. In the end, that perfectly describes Florence and its history.

The entrance ticket to the exhibition is € 8 (reduced € 5, free admission under 10 years old) and can be purchased at the ticket office of the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio. Admission is free for those who purchase the Firenze Card.
