Just a few more hours are left for the last finishing touches on the fantastic allegorical papier mache floats that will kick off the 2013 Carnival in Viareggio, one of the most beautiful and popular in Italy!
The Viareggio Carnival starts this Sunday, February 3 and continues for several Sundays up until March 3, beyond the time when Carnival usually lasts since Easter is taking place early this year (March 31, to be more precise).
The official opening ceremony will start tomorrow at 5pm (Feb 2) in Piazza Mazzini but the float parade will take place on these dates and times:
- Sunday February 3 at 3pm
- Sunday February 10 at 4pm
- Tuesday February 12 (Fat Tuesday) at 2:50pm
- Sunday February 17 at 3pm
- Sunday March 3 at 3pm
At the end of the last parade, on March 3, the winning float will be announced and a beautiful fireworks show will mark the end of Carnival for this year.
