This weekend, the prestigious Medieval Festival celebrated in the charming walled town of Monteriggioni, north of Siena, returns for the first of two weekends of fun for the whole family!
This 22nd edition will take place over two weekends, this July 6-8 and next weekend July 13-15, 2012 offering a rich program of shows and entertainment.
The streets of the town will host parades in Medieval period costumes and dancers, acrobats, duelists, pilgrims, musicians and more to enliven the atmosphere during the festival.
This year the theme of the event will be “Hell and Paradise” so watch out for devils, thieves, mercenaries, alchemists, harlots and penitents you may find on your journey to the past in Monteriggioni.
Those who love tasting new dishes will have the chance to savor typical medieval dishes at the taverns and restaurants inside the town.
Do not forget to change your euro with medieval coins; with these you will be able to purchase everything, from food and wine to craft items made of stone, leather, clay and much more inside the walled town.
This weekend represents the best occasion to live and enjoy an authentic medieval atmosphere, we highly suggest visiting the small walled town on this occasion to go back in time and imagine how life used to be centuries ago.
